Married life

I was kind of laughing yesterday. I’ve been married for almost 1-1/2 years now and yesterday I “REALLY” felt married. Steve and I had spent the day running around - church, lunch out and some shopping at Joanne’s for some sewing supplies (more about that later). We came home and relaxed - played with the dog a bit and read the newspaper.

A pretty typical Sunday afternoon. Now here comes the part where I felt married - cuz all that stuff we did before we were married (except the dog which we didn’t have) … I got my new sewing machine out and started learning to sew on it. Not a big deal - except … My mom sewed a lot - she’s a really good seamstress and to me, part of being married is sewing for the family. Silly I know … but that’s the truth.

While I was doing that, Steve was wandering around the house getting things ready cuz he’s going to travel to New Hampshire this afternoon for a couple of days. He came in and was sitting on the floor assembling everything for his computer bag, and the dog was laying in the middle of the floor. It took me back to the days when I was a kid and mom was sewing, dad was working in his workshop and the dogs were passed out in the room . We kids were generally laying around on pillows that mom had made, watching TV or playing board games.

So anyway … that’s why I “Really” felt married. As much as I fight becoming my mom - there are times where I see a lot of her in me - and I guess that’s not a bad thing.
